A sofa is rarely something you think about once you own one. Ideally, it becomes part of the home, quietly present through long evenings, slow mornings, and everything in between. When we began designing the Heirloom Sofa for Totem Road, our thinking centred on one idea: the intention behind every layer, from the first sketch to the final stitch.
The Frame
A solid foundation, built to outlast trends
The Heirloom's frame is solid timber, sustainably sourced, chosen not to be noticed - but to be felt. It gives the sofa its quiet confidence: the clean lines, the soft rounded front edge, the sense that nothing will shift or give after years of use. A premium product starts from the ground up, and this is where the Heirloom begins.
The Fill
Recycled foam and sustainably sourced feathers
Comfort and considered sourcing are not in tension here. The Heirloom's cushions are filled with recycled foam, and the topper with sustainably sourced feathers, producing the kind of softness you simply sink into. Crafted to be lived with, not worried about.
The Seat Cushion
Generous comfort, without the upkeep
The seat cushion is built around a foam core, wrapped in a feather and down comfort layer across the top and sides. The result is soft, rounded, and deeply inviting, yet designed specifically so it doesn't need to be fluffed or straightened after every use. A small amount of natural settling gives the Heirloom its casual, lived-in quality. Whether you're sitting, lounging, or lying down for an afternoon nap, it simply feels right.

The Cushions
Refined in every detail
Where the seat cushion is generous and casual, the arm and back cushions are clean and understated. The seam detail is minimal - stitching sits just 3mm from the seam - and a thick cotton backing holds the form while letting the linen cover breathe and drape naturally. Highly tailored, without announcing itself. The kind of detail you notice only when you look closely, and appreciate long after.
The Covers
100% linen, removable, made to be washed
The covers are 100% linen - light neutrals with a strong connection to nature, removed by simple velcro lining. That's not incidental to the design; it's central to it. Life marks things, and sofas more than most. The loose, casual feel of the linen, the soft seam detail, the gentle drape - all of it is deliberate. And when the time comes, you take the covers off, wash them, and start again. Available in seven bespoke colours, or made to order to suit your home exactly as it is.
