In addition to Totem Road’s first foray into in-house designed dining chairs, we have also introduced a new finish – Black Oak.
The black dining chairs effortlessly complement Totem Road’s signature oak and Carrara marble dining tables, serving as accent pieces that seamlessly fit various styles, from coastal to industrial or modern.
The statement-making yet minimalist shade adds sophistication and elevated warmth to spaces, particularly fitting as we transition into the cooler months, while maintaining a timeless and versatile appeal.
Our three new dining chair designs – No.1, Mira, and Mira Carver – are crafted from FSC-certified oak. The Black Oak finish is achieved through a natural oil that permeates the dark pigment deep into the wood, sealing the fibres beneath the surface while preserving the original wood grain look and feel.
Founder Don Garvan and Designer Francesco Feliziani collaborated closely with a local supplier in Vietnam, known for utilising the finest tung oil sourced from sustainable and certified forests. These forests, located in Vietnam where our furniture is manufactured, contributes to reducing our product's carbon footprint.
This approach also ensures that the final product is non-toxic and environmentally friendly, while providing an easily repairable finish for inevitable markings over time, ensuring the longevity of the dining chairs and the other oil-finished pieces in our range.
